The All-Party Parliamentary Group (appg) on Indian Traditional Sciences (ITS) was launched in 2014.

MISSION
The mission of the ITSappg is to promote parliamentary and public understanding of Indian Traditional Sciences (Ayurveda, Yoga, Jyotish, Vastu, Unani and Sangeetam) in the UK and abroad, and to expand and integrate Medical Pluralism in the National Health Service.

AIMS
The aim of the ITSappg is to connect parliamentarians with academics and civil society groups to inform policy on how its contributions can be harnessed for greater impact on patient’s choice.

OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the ITSappg is to:

  • Raise parliamentary and public awareness of the key research, policies, and best practice regarding the contributions made by the Indian Traditional Sciences

  • Bring together the knowledge and experience of members of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, practitioners, researchers, and academics in order to develop proposals aimed at influencing policy

  • Encourage Indian Traditional Sciences’ fraternity to share knowledge, experience, and best practice on Ayurveda, Yoga, Jyotish, Vastu, Unani and Sangeetam with ITSappg

  • Work closely to link with appropriate government and civil society bodies in the UK, EU, and globally to share best practice

  • Encourage international experts and researchers in the field to share their ideas and research findings on a regular basis

  • Publish briefings on issues pertaining to Indian Traditional Sciences
