The celebration in Parliament included also a demonstration of Yoga breath work by PhD student, dance and holistic therapist, Carolina Naess, who pointed out that somatic movement and yogic breathing with the Sudarshan Kriya technique is a fast, cost effective and sustainable alternative to address the root cause of many mental health related issues in school children and youth as well as school teachers. It is a lifelong tool and invaluable gift. Dr Bernard Colaço elaborated on his initial studies in Anti-Phospholipid antibodies at Hammersmith Hospital and Middlesex Hospital. He has championed patient involvement in care throughout his career and undertaken Patient led surveys and audits and is promoting Yoga Therapy as a means to reduce medication and medical intervention at a local health service level, with plans for RCT trials in yoga for low back pain.
